Blog: So You Support a Candidate... Why?

Statement

Date: Oct. 18, 2010

It's now two weeks out from election day, and early voting has begun. I'd hope at this point many voters have researched the candidates for the various offices and are able to cast an informed vote.

If you have done so, I thank you for taking the time in our high-pressure world to do this. If not, please continue researching the District 2 candidates. Unlike a political party, I'm not one to tell you how to vote, but if you do vote, you should be able to logically support your decision. Here is some food for thought to assist in the decision-making process:

1. Does your candidate offer potential solutions to the many issues we face?

2. Does your candidate seek your input on these issues and other legislative matters?

3. Has your candidate taken a position on key issues so you know where they stand?

4. If so, has their position been consistent?

5. Will your candidate abide by our rulebook called the Constitution or will they via their party ignore it for the sake of political payback on the opposing party to the detriment of the voters?

6. Has your candidate worked with Congress on legislation, or taken time away from their campaign to stop a United Nations land and sea grab?

Using this process, you should be able to talk to other voters and tell them why you're supporting your candidate. If you're struggling with this, please take a look around my website or email me at vote@paulmckain.com. I'm not from the government, but I'm here to help.
